MADISON – David Young, an English professor and former student newspaper adviser, is retiring after 25 years at Edgewood College.
On The Edge, the school’s student newspaper, announced Young’s retirement this week. Young advised the newspaper for 10 years, including in 1999 when On The Edge took first place for General Excellence in the WNA Foundation’s first collegiate Better Newspaper Contest.
Young, who grew up in Indiana, earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his master of fine arts degree from Indiana University. He also spent some early years of his career as a journalist, including five at Rolling Stone magazine.
Before joining the Edgewood staff in 1994, Young also had teaching jobs at the University of New Orleans and Beloit College. He spent five years at each school.
