MADISON – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has hired David Callender to be its communication director, the state jobs agency announced Wednesday.
Callender, a longtime award-winning journalist in Wisconsin, most recently served as communications director for the Wisconsin Policy Forum. During his three years there, he helped guide the merger of the Madison-based Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance with the Milwaukee-based Public Policy Forum.
For more than 20 years, Callender worked as a journalist covering state and local government and politics in Wisconsin. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Cap Times of Madison. He also spent seven years as a lobbyist for the Wisconsin Counties Association.
Callender earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s in political science from UW-Madison.
