Former Stevens Point Journal editor Bill Strasser dies at 93

William “Bill” Strasser, who spent more than three decades with the Stevens Point Journal, died Sunday, March 24, 2019. He was 93.

Born on April 14, 1925, in Stevens Point, Strasser served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service, he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism at UW-Madison.

Strasser married his wife, Patricia, on June 14, 1952, in Wittenberg. Together, they had five children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

After college, Strasser worked for more than 35 years at the Stevens Point Journal. He retired as AP wire editor for the newspaper.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, at St. Peters Catholic Church, 800 4th Ave., Stevens Point. Visitation will precede the mass at 9 a.m., and burial with full military honors will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery, 801 Soo Marie Ave.
