Sheriff’s deputies who were disciplined for reporting to work drunk didn’t face criminal charges

GREEN BAY – Although two Brown County Sheriff’s deputies apparently each drove to work while intoxicated and in possession of a firearm, neither was referred for criminal charges, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.

USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin obtained the officers’ disciplinary records through an open records request filed after rumors began to surface prior to the November 2018 sheriff’s election that the deputies avoided serious consequences after driving to work drunk.

The records revealed the two deputies who showed up to work regularly scheduled patrol shifts had blood alcohol levels above the legal limit of 0.08 percent. Both received unpaid suspensions and one remains an employee of the sheriff’s office.
