Hometown News Group consolidates newspaper offices

UPDATED: Feb. 7, 2019

Hometown News Group has announced it will consolidate several of its newsrooms into three offices in Lake Mills, Sun Prairie and Waunakee, the newspaper group has announced.

On Feb. 6, The Cambridge News & Deerfield Independent and The (Waterloo) Courier will move into the offices of the Lake Mills Leader.

On Feb. 13, the DeForest Times-Tribune and Lodi Enterprise and Poynette Press will move into the Waunakee Tribune building.

On Feb. 20, The Herald-Independent & McFarland Thistle will move from Cottage Grove to the Sun Prairie Star office.

While the local offices are closing, the newspapers and their staffs are not going anywhere. In fact, in an effort to remain accessible to the community, The Cambridge News & Deerfield Independent plans to publish a weekly schedule of when and where its two editors can be found working remotely.

The consolidation, which comes two months after Hometown News was purchased by Adams Publishing Group, also will allow the newspapers to share staff and other resources at their new hub offices.
