HAYWARD – Eight years after the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a former Catholic priest accused of molesting at least three boys in the 1980s, he has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a child.
The charges came two weeks after USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin filed an open records request with Sawyer County District Attorney Bruce Poquette. Because of his policy of not talking with the media, Poquette has not answered questions about why the charges took so long to file after he received the investigation, reported Laura Schulte of the Wausau Daily Herald.
