Records reveal past conduct issues for former Summit police officer

SUMMIT – A former Summit police officer who resigned in August following an internal investigation violated the department’s code of conduct more than four years ago, according to documents obtained by Lake Country Now through an open records request.

During a 2014 investigation, Todd Borchardt violated policy after threatening to arrest a group home supervisor who refused to immediately release the name of an employee suspected of driving recklessly, reported Now‘s Evan Frank. He was suspended for four days without pay. Borchardt was also issued a reprimand in 2012 and a minor infraction in June.

The newspaper submitted an open records request concerning the most recent investigation of Borchardt, but documents were unable to be released at the time of publication, Frank wrote.
