MADISON – Tom Wiley, a veteran newspaper executive, will take over for John Humenik as publisher of the (Madison) Wisconsin State Journal, Lee Enterprises announced Monday.
Wiley has been Lee’s corporate director of sales and marketing since 2017. He previously served as vice president of sales for media operations in St. Louis from 2005 to 2010.
Wiley, who earned his advertising degree from Michigan State University, started his career in the advertising department at the Lansing (Mich.) State Journal. He’s also had stints at The Buffalo News and Digital First Media in New York, Suburban Journals in Missouri, 21st Century Media in Connecticut and The Hartford (Conn.) Courant.
Humenik will continue to work out of Madison as he moves into a full-time role as vice president of news for Lee.
