MONROE – First printed on Oct. 13, 1898, The Monroe Times celebrated its 120th anniversary Saturday.
The newspaper started as the Monroe Evening Times and was founded by Emery A. Odell, who served as editor and publisher.
The Times has evolved over time, including being a part of various newspaper groups. Most recently, Bliss Communications of Janesville sold the newspaper as part of Monroe Publishing LLC to Morris Newspaper Corp., in February 2017.
Since joining the Morris Newspaper group, The Times has undergone a number of changes, including reducing its print frequency to two days a week earlier this year.
