MILWAUKEE – A two-year-old email obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel under the state’s open records laws shows Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission nominee Everett Cocroft making disparaging remarks about Milwaukee police, Daniel Bice reported last week. In light of the email, the commission has halted its vote to consider Cocroft’s appointment.
Cocroft wrote a two-paragraph rant against Milwaukee police, describing them as poorly trained, abusive of overtime and more interested in their “wallets, pension and benefits” than protecting the public, according to the story. Before the email surfaced, Cocroft appeared all set to be Mayor Tom Barrett’s latest appointment to the commission, Bice wrote.
