Judge likely to release portion of redacted email in Baraboo records case

BARABOO – A judge said Friday he is likely to make public portions of a redacted email involving a Spring Green man found dead on property deemed a health hazard by Sauk County officials, the Baraboo News Republic reported.

Green Lake County Circuit Court Judge Mark Slate, who was appointed to avoid conflicts of interest for local court officials, heard arguments last week in the newspaper’s records lawsuit against two county offices.

Slate said that the last two lines of redacted information were “not confidential” and “completely responsive to clearly something the newspaper would be looking for,” according to the story by News Republic reporter Tim Damos.

Slate is expected to rule in the newspaper’s favor in at least the matter of redactions in one email, Damos wrote. He said he may request additional information regarding the newspaper’s other contested denials before issuing a written ruling.
