GREEN BAY – City Hall Room 604, home of Green Bay’s Redevelopment Authority, will now be known as the Harry Maier Room, in honor of the former longtime business editor of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Maier, who died April 25 at age 90, was the Press-Gazette’s business editor for 22 years before retiring in 1993. He also served on the RDA board for 25 years, including 15 as chairman.

Born in Sheboygan, Maier graduated from UW-Madison in 1951 before working for five years at the Portage Daily Register. He then joined the Press-Gazette, where he worked as a reporter, city editor and state editor before taking on the business editor role.

After retiring, Maier also worked for St. Norbert College and The (Green Bay) Business News.
