MINNEAPOLIS – Adams Publishing Group, which owns eight newspapers in Wisconsin, has purchased Cooke Communications media group in North Carolina and Florida.
APG’s acquisition includes daily newspapers in Greenville, N.C., Rocky Mount, N.C., Elizabeth City, N.C., and Key West, Fla., as well as several nondaily newspapers and websites.
Cooke Communications was founded in 2000 and employs nearly 280 people.
APG owns over 130 newspapers in 20 states and Washington, D.C. Its newspapers in Wisconsin include The (Ashland) Daily Press, The (Bayfield) County Journal, the (Eau Claire) Leader-Telegram, The (Eau Claire) Country Today, (Hayward) Sawyer County Record, (Phillips) Price County Review, The (Rice Lake) Chronotype, and the Spooner Advocate.
