GREEN BAY – Brown County Supervisor Patrick Evans on Monday proposed an advisory referendum regarding prayer at public meetings, Doug Schneider of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.
The proposed wording: “Should the Brown County Board of Supervisors continue to open their monthly board meeting with a Christian-style (prayer) invocation?”
Initial reaction has not been supportive, Schneider wrote. Supervisors, the county’s lead attorney and the Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation all raised questions about whether such a proposal would appear that the county is endorsing Christianity over other religions.
