An art exhibit and contest will celebrate the work of the Central St. Croix News, which published its final issue on Feb. 22, 2018.
Any person who read, bought, appeared in, worked for or was part of the news community is invited to attend the art show opening and evening of reminiscing from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Foster Hall, 865 Davis St., Hammond. Those attending are encouraged to bring a favorite news photo or clipping and share a story about the newspaper.
The exhibit will also be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12. It will feature Minneapolis artist Leon Hushcha and his painting “Danielle,” acrylic wash on newspaper on wood, as well as the Moving Mural painted by students from The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson.
There will also be a newspaper art contest, which will award prizes to the best newspaper-related art.
