Eric Timmons has joined the River Valley Media Group as the editor of the La Crosse suburban weekly newspapers.
Timmons, a native of Ireland, is a graduate of Maynooth University, where he majored in French and geography. Soon after college, Timmons, ventured into journalism through an internship at BBC Northern Ireland.
Timmons got his first break as a reporter at the Leinster Express and later became editor of The Kildare Post, both weekly newspapers in Ireland.
In 2008, Timmons moved across the Atlantic and landed in Illinois. There, he put his skills to work as a city and county reporter for the Galesburg Register Mail.
After a spell working as a communications specialist at John Deere Harvester Works in the Quad-Cities, Timmons decided to return to local journalism as editor of the Coulee Courier and Houston County News.
