Rose Signe Bergh dies at 97

Rose Signe Bergh, of Buffalo City, died on April 29. She was 97.

Born on May 7, 1925, to Felix and Signe (Erickson) Lindgren in Stockholm, she graduated from Pepin High School.

She married Martin Van Swanson Sr. in December 1944, and together they had three children and resided in Plum City. In 1951, they moved to Ellsworth, where Rose went on to work as a linotype operator at the Beldenville Reporter. She would later do similar work for the Durand Courier, the Rochester (Minn.) Weekly and Fields Printing.

She later divorced Swanson and married Ron Bergh on Feb. 22, 1968. After working and living in California for many years, the couple moved to Winona, Minnesota, and later to Schofield, Wisconsin, and Red Wing, Minnesota. In 2005, they retired in Buffalo City, Wisconsin, but spent winters in Golden Valley, Arizona.
