Judge Comment: Both "sides" were winners here, the press for proving its care and consideration of the community and the community being assured it was getting accurate, impactful information. That's what the press is all about, the freedom of thoughtful, reported information. The idea of engaging a worthy, time-honored organization, and providing coverage for so many counties through this partnership. Brilliant. Everyone got an education here, too, from the newspaper working with citizens, the citizen observers working with the press, and the community getting information that might not otherwise have been or could have been obtained.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: The Chetek Alert
    Entry Title: Community Engagement Award
    Entry Credit: Kenton Troutman
Judge Comment: Any effort to show that the press is here to present factual, objective and helpful information is a fine way of engaging and educating readers. This reporting went above and beyond in its duty to bring these issues to the forefront and give readers the opportunity to engage as well. Keep it up. Issues big and small are all big in small communities and ways to show the professionalism and need for the press.
