Judge Comment: Extreme heat and extreme cold -- one can really feel both at the same time through this photo. The firefighters in the foreground remind us of the unpleasant situations firefighters occasionally must confront. There's a sense of hopelessness as they trudge toward the blaze. All together, a stunning photo.

Judge Comment: Firefighters really do take care of all of us -- including our pets. This is something most people don't see every day, and I congratulate the photographer for spotting a scene that's both heartwarming and attention-grabbing. The expression on the firefighter's face is one of -- disbelief? pain? amusement? I'm not sure, but it's fun to speculate.

Judge Comment: The damaged car, the debris scattered across the road and that blue tent are fascinating visuals. In addition, you captured the action of the patrolman in the middle of his investigative work, and ... whatever that guy behind the fence is doing. It's an intriguing photo that definitely draws me in, making me want to read the story.
