    Judge Comment: Good job taking this beyond the 'governor visits' headline. Localizing state issues - especially when you have a state senator from your town - is key. Solid writing.

    Judge Comment: A well-organized story that conveys emotion. A different take on a sentencing hearing.

    Judge Comment: This is a solid story that I struggled to place, wanting it to be in top 3. The timeliness of the other entries weighed in their favor.
  • Competition Comment: Typography in many instances made reading a challenge but I did not take that into consideration in choosing winners. However, I strongly encourage improvement in this area. I enjoyed the variety of entries and I feel confident your communities appreciate the effort that goes into your coverage.
