Judge Comment: Good piece of writing that only needed a stronger lead. But overall, a good read.
  • Competition Comment: These entries show promise in reporting and knowledge of subject. My only criticism is a lesson I learned long ago — the lead of a past event or one already in progress is not a sufficiently compelling if it doesn't give us something we couldn't have known in advance. At the same time, the overall knowledge of their subjects was well done and they can be coached to create stronger leads.
